Islamabad: The Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan (ECP) Fakhruddin G. Ibrahim on Wednesday welcomed the decision given by the Supreme Court of Pakistan in the petition filed by Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT) leader Tahirul Qadri challenging the formation of the commission.
The apex court on Wednesday rejected the petition filed by Dr. Tahirul Qadri for the reconstitution of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
In its written order, the three member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry stated that tahirul Qadri had failed to convince the bench over his petition and the intentions behind filing it.
Talking to media, the CEC chief said that he was expecting the same decision given by the apex court on Wednesday as the formation of the commission was in accordance with the constitution of Pakistan.
He further said that election commission and Supreme Court were on the same path and no one could the elections in the country.
