IBA, ICAP to form curriculum alliance

Karachi: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) will be signing a partnership agreement with Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi on Tuesday February 12, 2013.

As a result of this alliance, BS Accounting & Finance graduates (4 year programme) from IBA will have a unique opportunity to pursue Chartered Accountancy studies with an exemption of 4 modules (12 subjects) from CA curriculum.

This will be the first time that ICAP will give an exemption to any university.

By virtue of this arrangement, the IBA will give a novel option to its students whereby their academic degree will lead to a strong professional qualification and ICAP will recruit quality graduates with university exposure and sound academic background.

This is a remarkable alliance between a top ranking business school and the leading accountancy body of the country and will make a positive contribution to the economic and business sector of Pakistan.

The agreement will be signed by Dean and Director IBA Dr Ishrat Husain and President ICAP Mr Ahmad Saeed at the IBA main campus, university road, Karachi on Feb12, 2013.

The amount of butthurt in here by retards from CA and ACCA is astounding. You cannot compare the graduates of the oldest business school outside North America, the university which has the most CEOs in Pakistan to a bunch of retarded nerds and geeks from CA and ACCA. Comaring IBA’s BBA to ACCA/CA is like comparting the Novel Writer to a Typist/Proof-Reader.

This is unfair…discouraging ACCA but at the same time encouraging business admin degrees…what benefit CA students are going to get out of it. and do ICAP a business admin graduate will be able to work in CA firms as students of accountacy does.

ICAP please tell us if you are going to exempt complete CA to masters from IBA.
we should rather quit articles and join IBA.. what the hell going on from ICAP these days!!

now frankly speaking, ACCA i guess is better degree than IBA’s bachelor, but no degree should get exemption. ICAP need to show positive behavior towards those 90% guys they refer or fail in CA-inter, instead of letting them believe that they can be compared to a bachelor degree plan where passing ratio is 100%.

ICAP’s management is really playing with careers here.

bba students dont know a single bit of audit. They would be wasting their 7.5 years (4 yrs bba and 3.5 years of articleship) and still they will, in my opinion, would be less technically sound in the accountancy and audit field.

Again a wrong decision .. I don’t know what is happening to our body !! First they are banning ACCA and ICAEW trainees and now they are giving exemption to university grads who don’t have experience any pressure of professional studies and most important they aren’t taking any exemption from them .. I believe that we have wasted our time in doing CA – Inter .. :X

icap never has and never will in my opinion protect the interest of its full time students. we work like hell to clear the exams yet again we fail at times. we should atleast get reciprocal degree from iba. if not then this is again, a very stupid decision of icap
