Rehman Malik summons top security meeting over terror threats in Balochistan, Karachi


Islamabad: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Wednesday summoned a high level security meeting in Islamabad next week to tackle the terror threat faced by the country specially in Balochistan province and Karachi.    

Speaking to media representatives, the interior minister said that inspector generals’ of police and home secretaries of the provinces would participate in the meeting while top officials of security agencies would also be present in the meeting.

“The main objective of the meeting was to convey terror threats to the provinces and devise a combined policy which could help in tackling the law and order situation in the country,” he said.

Malik further stand firm on his last warnings regarding massacre in Karachi and said that today’s blast was the first of the warnings that he had given in the past.

“Whenever I had informed regarding any terror threat it had happened,” he said adding that the law enforcement authorities should seriously consider this threat.

The interior minister also announced to confer ‘Sitara-e-Shujaat’ to the bomb disposal squad (BDS) unit which saved life of several people in Sohrab Goth area by the diffusing an active bomb.

    • Abbas I do not want to sound like siding with Rehman Malik and am actually not pro-PPP.  We all know what is happening in Pakistan.  I wonder what any other interior minister would do in these circumstances when big powers of the world are out to destabilize this country for their interests.  In these times the only hope would be in our unity.  We should therefore desist from talks such as ‘Wahabi, shiites or (I don’t know) many other turban color based groups.  Let us be only Pakistanis now.  Our internal differences can be dealt with internally later in possibly a harmonius way.  Ultimately we are all Muslims.
