At least 90 killed after fire erupted in Brazil nightclub

Sao Paulo: At least 200 people were killed and several others injured after a fire broke out in a nightclub in southern Brazil on Sunday.

Local official say the fire erupted after a band’s display of fireworks.

Senior police officer Gerson da Rosa Ferreira told reporters that 159 bodies had already been identified and removed from the nightclub, Reuters reported.

The incident occurred in the city of Santa Maria 187 miles west of the state capital of Porto Alegre.

 As many as 2,000 people were in the nightclub at the time of the incident, a local newspaper reported  on its website.
