Islamabad: Famous but controversial Pakistani anchorperson Mehar Bukhari is all set to join DawnNews in the upcoming days. Mehar Bukhari, who is the wife of ARY News anchor Kashif Abbasi, hosted a controversial talk show along with another anchor Mubashir Luqman.
Insiders told JournalismPakistan.com that she had been hired on a monthly salary reported to be Rs1.8 million.
She has been away from the television screen for several months and was previously with Dunya News Television where a leaked video of a program she hosted along with Mubashar Luqman last summer showed behind the scene conversation with their guest, property tycoon Malik Riaz.
The clip first posted on YouTube revealed the interview with Malik was set-up as Mehar admitted herself during the conversation that took place before the program and during commercial breaks.
The video that went viral created a rumble within the media fraternity leaving the role and ethics of television anchors open to question.
