The News Tribe (TNT): Please introduce yourself to our readers. Tell us about your background; where you grew up, your family and education.
AJ: Well I personally I love to be introduced as a photographer but along with doing photography I teach photography as well, because when I was eager and passionate to learn about photography there was no one who helped me. In fact not the known names replied me and direct me to become a good photographer. I don’t want others to face the same situation that is why I keep myself open to all the students and photography lovers. I have also widened the photography term for me by indulging myself into tele films, corporate documentaries and production. I don’t have a very artistic background. My father was a landlord but he wanted us to be self made. So, he guided us to choose the path which interests us and leads us to the success, I am and would always be very thankful to him for that.
I grew up and had education here in Karachi. Like all I have many great memories of that era.
TNT: Why you choose this line of work and where are you currently working?
AJ: I own a company Ideatic.
TNT: What got you interested in photography?
AJ: Creativity and appreciations from others
TNT: What do you carry in your camera bag?
AJ: It is not just a bag but bags. Usually I take two of my cameras, extra two lenses, flashes, triggers, soft boxes, light meter, different filters and whatever I can stuff my bag with it.
TNT: How would you define a good picture?
AJ: There is no formula of a good picture. Yet there are few things which make any photograph a good photograph like light, composition, angle, right time and right moment to click. I can keep talking about it for hours as I do it on daily basis in front of my students.
TNT: For people who want to learn photography, what tips or advice would you give them?
AJ: Only three words:
Practice
Practice
and
Practice…
TNT: Tell about some of your photography projects? What is scope of this profession in Pakistan?
AJ: I have traveled a lot for photography across and out of Pakistan, but I enjoyed it everywhere because I love photography. I suggest never do anything because of scope or opportunities. Always follow your heart and do what you love to do. For those who have passion they see scope and for those who don’t love it they would never see any single benefit of it.
TNT: What techniques can you share with us that will bring out the same effects like saturation and intensity?
AJ: There is no shortcut for that. You must know your equipment and must know to control your exposure and white balance to get good colors.
TNT: If you could choose one picture you are especially proud of, what would it be and why?
AJ: I am very passionate about my work and passion always comes with restlessness. So the best thing is yet to come.
TNT: What is your message?
TNT: Always follow your heart, do what you love to do and enjoy while doing it. That’s the key to success.
