Lahore: As the long march of Pakistan Awami Tehrik founder Tahir-ul-Qadri has become a talk of the town and most of the people feels that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) led coalition government and democracy are under threat.
But a local Urdu newspaper reports that there is a hidden agenda behind Qadri’s march through which the Punjab government will be targeted.
“According to a plan finalised by Qadri and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), they will show their full power in Lahore and Karachi instead of Islamabad to get the intention of the international community to show that they have a strength in two major financial and economic hubs of the country,” daily Nai Baat reports.
The paper quoting sources said that the marchers had a plan to create a situation to make Qadri’s arrest possible. “The arrest could impact positively on Qadri.”
“The marchers will chock the Lahore city in way that the whole Punjab province will be affected.”
The MQM will do the same in Karachi, the sources told the paper.
Regarding meeting of Interior Minister Rehman Malik and Qadri, the paper says Malik has not taken any Punjab government official into confidence before the meeting while Qadri also did the same by not including any from his party except his sons.
“After Malik-Qadri meeting and recent developments, Punjab government has become a target of the march,” the paper concludes.
