London : Naomi Watts, who plays Princess Diana in her new movie, has revealed that the role gave her an insight into the isolation and paranoia suffered by the late royal.

The 44-year-old actress told the Australian Vogue that playing such an iconic figure in the movie, which follows Diana in the last two years of her life, allowed her to see another side of Diana, the Daily Express reported.

Watts said that she had the pressure to look right, to have good hair, to walk and speak like her, and also asserted that the late royal was a great mother and did a lot of things with Aids charities and the landmines.

`The Impossible’ star also said that the Princess of Wales had an extraordinary life but her life was filled with tragedy and ended in the most tragic way.

Watts further said that she can identify with the media interest in her activities, and understands a little of the pressure and how awful it must have been for her.

The actress revealed that the late royal was properly isolated because of the media attention and, as a result, became paranoid and didn’t know who to trust.

The film, which focuses on Diana’s landmine campaign and her alleged relationship with surgeon Dr Hasnat Khan, is set to be released this year.
