US army officer in Afghanistan James Grant converts to Islam

Kabul: James Grant, a US army officer in Afghanistan, has embraced Islam in the Watapur district of eastern Kunar province.

The officer from the US state of Tennessee said he converted after reading books on Islam for the last seven months at a coalition camp in the town.

He has changed his name to Mohammad Asif.

Father of two, Grant formally announced his decision on Friday, insisting he found Islam a religion of truth.

He said he had consulted his wife before the conversion. “She did not oppose my conversion. I would preach Islam to my family first, and then to others.”

Do you guys really think that being in position of strength, control and invested power he was brain washed or forced? Now look at the situation, he is an officer with GUN IN HIS HANDS, AN AGENDA, FULL PROTECTION and BACKING from the country he represents (USA). He still reverts to Islam by simply doing his research. Come on guys he is an intelligent man. If he was all cabbage he will not be fit for duty. No swords were used or threats made to him, yet he reverts to Islam. What makes you think is that why would he revert to Islam being in a country where people are hostile towards him/his kind, I mean really he should hate that religion that is branded religion of terrorists. Against all odds MashAllah he has said the shahada and reverted to Islam. May Allah grant him jannah. Salaam to you all.
