Switzerland: Local farmers eat dogs and cats as they find no difference in meat, Swiss news paper reported on Thursday.

According to the report by Tages Anzeiger, the Swiss paper, some farmers eat dog or cat meat in rural areas of central and eastern parts of the country.

Farmers said that they found nothing odd or any difference in the meet, the daily cited.

Another Local said that the most popular breed of dog for eating was a close relative of the Rottweiler.

According to the Daily Mail, the farmers fearing reaction from animal devotees over their unique eating habits.

People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) spokesman said that they were surprised to know that as Switzerland was known for its progressive animal welfare laws.
