Pakistanis felicitated on commencement of first wind-power project

Islamabad: President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari has felicitated the nation on the inauguration of the first-ever windmill power project in Jhimpir, Sindh.

Addressing a public gathering on the occasion in Thatta, the president also felicitated Fauji Fertilizer Company and Sindh government on their success to initiate the project which will generate electricity from wind-power.

He furthered that the project will be a major move towards environment-friendly energy generation and creation of large number of employment opportunities in the province.

Zardari directed Sindh government to provide necessary support to establish an energy zone in Thatta. “Sindh has the capacity to generate 50,000MWs of power through solar energy, windmill and other sources,” he said.

He also stressed the need to ensure one-window opportunities for investors in the country.

  1. Wind power is being shut down all over the western world as they are cumbersome to maintain and  not cost effective. This enormous expenditure is not going to pay off.
