Lahore: As many as 16 doctors of Punjab have been sacked after their apparent refusal to respond to the notices issued by the government on their absence from duty for two years.

The action was taken on Saturday after the inaction of doctors to respond to repeated show-cause notices and warnings for their prolonged absence. The medical professionals are reportedly working on hefty salaries abroad.

Unconfirmed news sources said that the health ministry does not seem ready to initiate action against the doctors and their files have also mysteriously ‘disappeared’.
