Frankfurt Airport closes as Germany covered by snow blanket

Frankfurt: Frankfurt Airport was closed on Sunday amid snowfall and freezing temperature in Germany’s second largest metropolitan region.

The inbound flights of Germany’s biggest airport were suspended for one hour. Moreover, many planes could not land or takeoff due to the weather conditions.

The cold wave that stuck Europe this year has so far reportedly claimed lives of 824 people. It started on January 27, 2012 and has brought freezing temperatures to much of the continent.
