Sofia, Bulgaria: Pakistan’s Muhammad Asif beat Britain’s Gary Wilson 10-8 to clinch the title of World Snooker Championship in Bulgaria.
He beat Alex Borg of Malta in the semi-finals on Saturday to become the third Pakistani to play IBSF World Snooker Championship final after Mohammad Yousaf (in 1994) and Saleh Muhammad (in 2003).
Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari and other political leaders congratulated the cueist for becoming the second Pakistani to win the world championship.
Asif, who remained unbeaten throughout the tournament, said the final with the British was not easy.
