DI Khan: Despite severe security arrangements in DI Khan, at least five people faced death while 80 sustained serious wounds in a remote-controlled blast near Commissionary Bazaar, targeting central Muharram procession.
The blast went off in a closed shop leaving several killed and tens of people injured including children.
Meanwhile, the security personnel have cordoned off the area while the bodies of dead and injured have been rushed to District Headquarter Hospital and Combined Medical Hospital (CMH).
The blast created panic in the area while aerial firing was also heard as a result of the deadly explosion, sources said.
According to sources, security was on high alert near the processions. The security personnel were deployed on the roofs of nearby buildings while an army helicopter was also in the clouds for surveillance.
Heavy contingents of army have entered the area to control the volatile situation in the panic hit area. Further details are awaited.
