Digital Publishers Association body announced in Pakistan

Karachi: Different conventional media groups with the help of few from digital media scene of Pakistan have joined hands to form the Digital Publishers Association of Pakistan (DPAP). 

Pakistan is the 20th largest country in the world in terms of internet users with 30 Million using it through broadband, wireless etc; and 15 Million using net through mobiles.

According to the detail available to TheNewsTribe DPAP claims that it’s dedicated to safeguarding the interests of all stakeholders in a rapidly emerging digital market and creating a regulated playing field.

DPAP revealed the list of its office barriers as announcing Mr. Masood Hamid (President), Mr. Monis Rahman (Vice President), Mr. Sarmad A. Ali (Member Executive Committee), Mr. Shahab Zuberi (Member Executive Committee), Mr. Imran Ansari (Joint Secretary), Mr. Lucas Peter (Secretary General), and Ms. Sarah Sohail (Finance Secretary).

 Sources of DPAP executive committee told TheNewsTribe that Representatives from Dawn, Jang Media Group, Express Media Group, Business Recorder Group, ROZEE.PK, and SAMAA TV have been declared the founding members.

  “To increase DPAP’s membership as an inclusive association and converge on a shared common vision for Pakistan’s digital market under one net” said General Secretary of DPAP, Mr. Lucas Peter from Jang Group.

DPAP currently based on only 6 conventional (Print and Broadcasting) media houses out of dozens and One (Rozee.pk) as an independent digital media publisher while the number of independent online publishers in Pakistan are in hundreds.
