Lahore: Mr. Talat Nazir has successfully defended his PhD dissertation at the Department of Mathematics, Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS).

The title of his dissertation is “Existence and Uniqueness of Solutions of Operator Equations with Applications”. He carried out his work under the guidance of Dr. Mujahid Abbas.

During his PhD, Talat’s work was published in some international journals of high repute including Applied Mathematics and Computation, Applied Mathematics Letters, Fixed Point Theory and Applications, Advances in Difference Equations, Filomat, Abstract and Applied Analysis. The total impact factor of his international publications is 18.409.

In Talat’s dissertation, results deal with the existence of a unique fixed and common fixed point of self mappings satisfying certain contractive conditions in the setup of partial metric spaces endowed with a partial order. Global attractivity results for a class of matrix difference equations and homotopy result are also presented as applications of these results. The existence of solutions of certain integral equations is also obtained.

The Final Defense Committee comprised of Dr. Muhammad Dur-e-Ahmad; Dr. Ismat Beg; Dr. Shamim Akhta  Arif; Dr. Imran Naeem and Dr. Abubakr Muhammad. Members of the Advanced Research Committee, faculty members and graduate students of the Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering attended the presentation as well.
