Works as advertised. When connected directly to my laptop, I’m getting great signal strength at approximately 2-4 Mbps connectivity. When plugged into a USB wall charger with the WiFi hotspot enabled, our two laptops connected without issue, although the effective WiFi range seems limited to ten/fifteen feet or so. More distance and we start getting dropped connections which I find a little disappointing.

There also seems to be a constant data upload. After not using the modem overnight while leaving it plugged into the wall, it read around 30MB based on the built in statistics utility. That might be the modem checking in with the network etc… I hope that bandwidth is not deducted from our plan/cap.

The attached literature was pretty basic. There were instructions on logging in and changing the default password and SSID but no guide for someone not familiar with WiFi networks. When I selected WPA2/PSK as the default security and chose a five character password, I didn’t get a prompt telling me the password was too short. It actually let me save the password, which is incorrect, it should not have.

Overall a great product, but a little unrefined. A firmware update would resolve most of the issues I’ve listed and I hope one is released shortly.

However, the ability to have 3G mobile connectivity is fabulous. I’ve used with my laptop at various hotels, peoples houses and the Clifton beach area in Karachi. It works and it works well.

is it possible to plug with OTG cable for power source?

    • Bhanie

It should work. As it does not require any installation, all it needs is a power source and OTG cable should work like a charm.
