Peshawar: The banned outfit Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Monday claimed the responsibility of the attack on police that took place in Matni area of Peshawar.

On Sunday night, several armed militants attacked a police check-post in Matni area, killing seven policemen including SP Rural Khurshid Khan and wounding many others.  The attack continued for 2 hours. Later the militants succeeded in escaping from the spot.

According to the TTP spokesman Ihsanullah Ihsan, the banned group killed SP, ten police and FC men, and abducted several personnel.

The spokesman said that the attack was in retaliation of the raid which was launched by the security forces on Taliban training camps in Peshawar.
