Teachers, students, parents concerned over KJMC university status

Karachi: The teachers, students and their parents are concerned over the future of Karachi Jinnah Medical College as Sindh Assembly did not pass a bill to give the status of university to the education institute during its last session.

According to reports, parents have demanded of the government to determine the status of the college immediately.

This year four thousand students have submitted forms for admissions in MBBS at the JMC and entry test would be conducted on October 7.However, the authorities are reluctant to pay any heed clear the ambiguity over the status of educational institute.

Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari announced four months ago to give the status of a university to the medical college in order to meet the requirement of doctors and medical facilities in country.

It is to mention here that the provincial assembly is required to pass a bill to give the status of university to any college it has not done so despite the passage of 3 months.

According to the officials the bill was forwarded to the Sindh Assembly’s last session but it could pass due to Local Government Ordinance.
