Islamabad: Attorney General Irfan Qadir has sent a letter to the Election Commission of Pakistan, expressing reservations abut the ECP taking instructions from the Supreme Court of Pakistan in dual nationality case.
The attorney general wrote to the Chief Election Commissioner Fakhruddin G Ibrahim that he should keep in view his the Constitution while in the discharge of his duties.
He said that the any court, including the Supreme Court could not direct the Election Commission and the 11 lawmakers stood disqualified under article 63(1) C of the Constitution.
Qadir said that only the ECP could take action against the dual nationality holders. According to the TV reports the CEC has replied the AG, saying his letter would be taken into consideration in the next meeting.
