Ex-MPA among 5 gunned down in Karachi

Karachi: At least five people including a former Sindh Assembly lawmaker has been killed in the fresh spree of targeted killings in Karachi here on Saturday.

According to police, Malik Atta Muhammad was killed when he was shot dead by unknown arms riders when he was sitting outside his residence in Mehmoodabad area of the city.

Panic gripped the area following the murder of the former lawmaker, who belonged to Ahmadi community.

He was taken to Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Complex where doctors confirmed his death. Atta received bullet two injuries in head and shoulder.

A boy was shot dead in Usmanabad area of Lyari and his body was shifted to Civil Hospital. A man, identified as Ali Hussain was gunned down in Sector 11/12 of Orangi Town. People took to the streets and burnt tyers against his killing.

Two bodies stuffed in a gunny bag were found Garden area. According to police the deceased were subjected to torture before being killed. The bodies were yet to be identified.

Meanwhile, a man was injured as unknown assailants opened fire on Korangi Industrial area. The attackers managed to flee following the attack.
