Islamabad: The new ordinance pertaining to Sindh local government system has been challenged in the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
The ordinance was challenged by a lawyer on behalf of the City Alliance at the Karachi Registry of the apex court here on Saturday.
The petitioner made the governor, chief minister, chief secretary, law secretary and and secretary local governments respondents.
It is to mention here that the ordinance was promulgated after negotiations between the Pakistan People’s Party and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement.
The Awami National Party and the Pakistan Muslim League-Functional parted their ways with the PPP-led Sindh government expressing severe reservations over the ordinance.
