Buderim: Pakistan Under-19 cricket team on Saturday defeated Afghanistan by 109 runs in its first match of International Cricket Council Under-19 world cup.
Earlier, Afghanistan won the toss and put Pakistan into bat first. Pakistan’s Babar Azam’s 75 and Mohammad Nawaz 66 helped the country to set a good target of 253 runs. Afghanistan’s Sayed Shirzad took two wickets for 43 runs.
In their innings, Afghanistan’s Hashmatullah Shaidi with 50 runs was the only player who showed resistance to the Pakistani bowlers. Afghan team was bowled out for 144 runs in 45.1 overs. Pakistan’s Zia-ul-Haq took four wickets for 30.
