Kansas City, Mo. : The storms sweeping across the Kansas City area have left more than 27,000 without power, blew part of the roof off a skating rink and shutdown the Johnson County Fair in Gardner, Kan., on Wednesday night, a report said.
“‘All hands are on deck’ to restore power to customers. As of 11 p.m., 17,000 households remained without power,” KSHB quoted a Kansas City Power and Light spokesperson as saying.
A tree landed on a power line at 100 N.E. 74th Street in Gladstone, resulting in a power outage at Englewood and Antioch Roads.
There’s a widespread power outage in North Kansas City, in parts of Shawnee and in downtown Leavenworth.
According to Kansas City Power & Light, most of the customers without power are on the Missouri side of the state line.
Johnson County officials issued an involuntary evacuation of the fair around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday.
