London Olympics hockey: Fifth consecutive defeat for India

Print Friendly and PDF

London: Indian hockey team, participating in the London Olympics, seemed to be a club team as the eight time Olympic Champion has been defeated in the fifth consecutive match of the Olympics 2012 by Belgium with a 3-0 score.

The Indian team never looked comfortable in the match as their opponents scored first goal in the 14th minute of the match. It was Dekeyser J who scored the first goal for Belgium.

The Indian looked tired as in the 46th min of the match, the ball hit one of the defenders on the foot and VR Raghunath thought it was a penalty corner. They did chase the ball, but Belgium’s Boccard hit a superb reverse-hit to score second goal for his team.

The third goal of the match was scored by Beligium in the 67th min of the match courtesy of the wonderful hockeys skills by Tom Boon.

The hockey event of the London Olympics 2012 is a horrible dream for the Indian team and it better for them to forget it as soon as possible and work harder to perform well in the next tournaments.
