Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has ordered Interior Secretary Khuwaja Siddique to appear before it in the ephedrine case.

A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was told on Friday that the secretary was informed about the previous summons of the apex court but he didn’t turn up.

Re-issuing the summons, court observed that it would take legal action if he did not appear before the bench on the next hearing to be held on August 6.

It is to mention here that the SC has been hearing a ephedrine quota scam involving Abdul Qadir Gilani, a son of former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani.
