Kamijee is such a name that brings all the senses into work when one listens to his music. His music is as diverse as his audience, which is for a macrocosm. Besides being a musician, he is a marvelous composer, photographer, editor and director. With a combination of these skills and diversity, he brings in something new for his fans. He has been working behind Pakistan’s most renowned names during 90s era. It goes on like his contribution towards Junaid Jamshed’s solo album “Us Raah Par”. Some of his other works include title track from movie “Rakht” and music production work in film “Khuda ke Liye”. Apart from being a gifted composer, he is a magnificent pianist/keyboardist too.

One of his famous endeavors was his appearance in “Pepsi Battle of The Bands” in 2002. He is something more than that too. While talking to The News Tribe, he spoke about his musical journey and his upcoming projects too.

The News Tribe: Tell about your childhood and music training.

Kamijee: I started my music when I was in fifth grade and I don’t have any formal training as such. I am self-learnt musician.

The News Tribe: What inspires you as an artist?

Kamijee: I derive my inspiration from nature.

The News Tribe: What was the first instrument that you learnt playing?

Kamijee: It was piano and keyboard. J

The News Tribe: What languages you love singing in?

Kamijee: Well, it’s mostly Urdu that I love singing in.

The News Tribe: What genre of music you like and why?

Kamijee: I like modern fusion music. Let me tell you that I love to mix ‘Raags’ with western music too.

The News Tribe: Tell something about your current projects.

Kamijee: I am working on different projects. One of my upcoming projects is Shariq’s Album which is one of my all time favorites.

The News Tribe: What is future of music in Pakistan according to you?

Kamijee: Well, it’s hard for me to say something about it. The current state isn’t a very good one. Because in Pakistan adopting music as a career is a very risky step. There is no future for Pakistani musicians in Pakistan plus there is lot of politics in this industry too.

The News Tribe: Do you have any desire to perform with anyone? If yes whom?

Kamijee: I would love to perform with Abida Parveen.

The News Tribe: What is success for a musician according to you?

Kamijee: NO comments.

The News Tribe: What singer you like the most?

Kamijee: I love Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Abida Parveen.

The News Tribe: What is your message?

Kamijee: Well focus on your vision and stick to it. That’s the only way to get success.
