Islamabad: A five-member bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday continued hearing the multiple petitions against the contempt of court Act 2012.
The bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry comprises Justice Shakirullah Jan, Justice Khilji Arif Hussain, Justice Jawwad S Khawaja and Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani was hearing case.
Abdul Shakoor Paracha, the federation’s counsel, continued its argument in favour the law. He said that it was parliament duty to make law and judiciary’s duty was to explain the law.
Jutice Jawad Khawja remarked that few clauses of 1976 and 2012’s contempt of court act have similarities.
“My argument will be for new contempt of court act,” Paracha said.
