Altaf Hussain urges govt to take action against extortion mafia in Karachi

London: Muttahida Qaumi Movement Chief Altaf Hussain has urged the government to save the people and traders of Karachi from extortion mafia and criminals involved in kidnapping for ransom.

According to private television channels, Mr Hussain threatened to reveal names of those influential people and institutions, patronizing the whole criminal activities.

He said that the people and traders of Karachi were fully aware of the elements and their patrons involved in extortion and kidnapping for ransom.

“People of Karachi have been left on the mercy of gang war terrorists who abduct traders and their families for ransom and hurl grenades on their houses as they refuse to pay ransom,” the MQM chief said.

Hussain said that he had informed President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf and Interior Minister Rehman Malik about the criminal activities but they neither paid any heed nor took any measures to protect the people of Karachi from the atrocities being committed against them by the gang war criminals.
