Ufone receives ‘Best Practicing CSR Company’ awardKarachi: Ufone has been awarded with the ‘Best practicing CSR Company’ by United Nations Global Compact Pakistan (UNGCP), becoming the only telecom company to receive the award.

UN Global Compact Pakistan Local Network, in collaboration with Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Employers’ Federation of Pakistan and FPCCI, recently organised the National Global Compact Conference under the theme “Sustaining Best Business Practices” in Lahore.

To inspire the business community to follow the lead taken by business in the area of sustainability, UNGCP conferred recognition awards on best practicing CSR companies.

In view of creative CSR initiatives taken by Ufone as a tool for business sustainability, its name was suggested by UNGCP’s selection committee for the award, based on the word of mouth generated due to the company’s CSR activities.

UN Global Compact is a Project started by the former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan.

Akbar Khan, Ufone’s chief marketing officer, expressed his delight on the achievement, by praising the efforts, dedication and hard work of his team.

He said CSR is a growing field and responsible organisations like Ufone are very conscious of their responsibility towards their stakeholders and the environment they operate in. “With another ‘first’ in Ufone’s cap, we are very proud to be part of this environment-friendly organisation.”

Moazzam Ali Khan, head of Corporate Social Responsibility at Ufone, emphasised on the importance of a strong CSR platform and said the company’s initiatives were creative, innovative and focused on the masses.

He said that areas such as Child health care and environmental sustainability are Ufone’s prime focuses along with other educational activities for the underprivileged students.
