Damascus: The Syrian President Bashar-al-Assad seemed to have no worry about the atrocities going on in Syria. A video showed embattled Syrian President Bashar al-Assad singing in his brother-in-law’s birthday has been circulated on the internet by opposition activists, Al-Arabiya reported on Sunday.
According to estimates, almost 17,000 innocent people have been killed in the war-torn country after the popular uprising against the president. The regime also get a set back after killing of his top four officials in a blast and defection of several of his high officials.
Assad appears in the video, dated to August 2011, smiling and enjoying his time with his family apparently unmoved by the daily bloodshed in his country.
Leaked emails from Assad’s inbox, previously published by Al Arabiya, revealed the extravagant lifestyle which President Assad and his wife enjoy as dozens of people are being killed every day throughout the country.
Reported exchanges between the Syrian leader and iTunes show that the president downloaded songs by British pop duo Right Said Fred, U.S. country star Blake Shelton, electro-pioneers New Order and U.S. dance group LMFAO.
Assad apparently registered with a dummy email address to circumvent U.S. sanctions.
The couple’s inbox also included videos from YouTube, which they shared with each other; some of which were funny, sad or contained music.
