Karachi: Police on Friday claimed to have arrest an alleged extortionist in the city thanks to Rehman Malik’s presence in Karachi.
Police said it receive information that traders in Kharadar and Bartan market received threats from extortionists. Upon police arrival in the area the criminals opened fire on the law enforcers.
They said Police returned the fire and arrested an extortionist, who fell injured while his accomplices managed to flee.
The accused has been shifted to a local hospital for treatment, police said.
Moreover, police also claimed to have arrested a leader of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan Swat. The police said the accused was involved in launching attacks on forces in the restive region.
