Karachi: Rehman Malik, the Senior Advisor to the Prime Minister on Interior Affairs, on Friday submitted his nomination papers for Senate seat at the provincial election commission in Karachi.
He submitted the papers for the technocrat seat which he vacated on July 10. The polling on the seat will be held on August 8.
Later, Malik while talking to reporters, expressed gratitude to President Asif Ali Zardari and Altaf Hussain, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), for reposing confidence in him again.
Replying to a query, he said he vacated the seat due to the statements of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif.
He said he is only a Pakistani citizen and had submitted papers regarding relinquishing of British citizenship.
