Besham: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on Saturday said investors left the country due to undue criticism on Independent Power Producers (IPPs).
Speaking at an inauguration ceremony of 72 megawatt power project in Besham, main town of Shangla District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said that Pakistan’s future was linked to hydrel power.
He said that power crisis would have worsened if IPPs were not put in place. The prime minister said that work on Thra Coal project has started and he would soon visit the area.
The premier said that ex National Accountability Chairman Saifur Rehman jailed several investors.
Raja expressed resolve that he would not respond criticism as sloganeering didn’t work. He said that country’s interests should not be put on stake for the sake of vested interests.
