Karachi: Prime Minister’s Adviser on Interior Affairs Rehman Malik has said that he has resigned from his Senate membership to express solidarity with the Pakistanis leaving abroad.

He said that although the Supreme Court had cancelled his membership, he formally resigned from the upper house of the parliament.

Malik dispelled the expression that dual nationality bill was tabled to protect him.

The Adviser said that he had given up his UK nationality and he had submitted certificate to prove that in the court. However, the minister had so far not succeeded in satisfying the court.

Malik said that Zardari laid foundation of new politics in Pakistan, adding that all the parties were agreed on Fakhruddin G Ebrahim’s name for Chief Election Commissioner.

Replying a query, he said that Laskhar-e-Jhangvi was involved in Karachi violence.
