Karachi: Shahidnama is likely to no more on Express TV channel, as Dr Shahid Masood, a renowned anchorperson and a columnist, has been in talks with the management of ARY Group to join the channel on high profile position.

Dr Shahid has started off his career with ARY News and become once a most favorite anchorperson of his time when none of the anchorpersons can compete him in the current affairs programs.

He had been the king of the electronic media with his thoughtful discussions, insight analyses and bold comments on former president Pervaz Musharraf government, Pakistan and US relationship, regional and geopolitics.

He also produced a famous religious program “Hidden Truth–The End of Time” on ARY Digital entailing his research works, interviews of religious scholars and their prediction about the Armgeddon.

In 2007, he joined Jang Group as Executive Director and rebranded his show “Meray Muttabiq” Geo News, which had been the most successful program in late hours’ transmission.

In the Musharraf regime, the program was forced to stop his transmission particularly after the incident of Lal Masjid and exclusively interviews of two retired generals— Jamshed Gulzar Kayani and Moenuddin Hyder in late 2007.

He attained a height of the popularity in his career and become the most favorite opinion maker of the media.

But he has lost not only his popularity but his credibility also when he joined Pakistan Television Network as Chairman and MD when the PPP took control of the government.

He spent hardly six months in the state media and quit his job amid differences with the government and then Minister of Information Sherry Rahman.

Struggling with his career, he rejoined Geo and produced several popular shows that caused his credibility improved eventually but he seemed to be always open for media outlets owners on high salary package.

Later in 2010, he became president of ARY Digital Program and restarted his old show “Views on News” but he ended up his job at sad note. He left the organization for several reason including differences with senior colleagues and joining of Capital TV.

He had been disappeared from TV screen for a period and then got job in Express News as Consultant, where he has been doing his show “Shahidnama”, which seems an ordinary show with low ratings.

If he joins ARY Group, he will have tough time to retain is credibility among the viewers. And the credibility of ARY News will also at stakes as it hired recently Mubashir Luqman, the central character of anchorgate scandal, and it already hired Maya Khan, who was been fired on her interventionist conduct in the peoples’ personal lives.
