Two boys electrocuted in Cherokee Lake in Bean Station near the German Creek Marina, according to the Grainger County Sheriff’s Office.
Bystanders who tried to rescue the victims, who had been swimming between two house boats, also get shocked, WBIR.com reported.
The sheriff’s department says an additional six to eight people have been taken to the hospital in Morristown to be checked out. There has been no word yet on the conditions of the others, but the sheriff’s department does not believe their injuries are life-threatening.
The marina has been evacuated as authorities conduct their investigation.
