The Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf, the political party of legendary cricketer Imran Khan might shatter in pieces just because of a man, who had been making the fun of Mr Khan during Musharraf’s regime.
The man is Sheikh Rashid of Rawalpindi, who is likely to be accepted by the PTI on August 14 during a public meeting. It is also reported that Imran Khan would also attend the meeting.
Perhaps, Khan has not thought yet as to how he, his party leaders and workers would defend his move in national media.
Khan’s politics revolves around his anti-status quo rhetoric and now he is going to yet another force of status quo. His close friends and senior journalists like Haroonur Rashid and Hasan Nisar would turn their guns against him.
The ‘PTI cyber force’ won’t be able to present more lame excuses like “An army of sheep led by a lion is better than an army of lion led by sheep”, isn’t it?
Even Khan’s all time supporter Mr Haroonur Rashid has raised very serious questions in his Tuesday’s column in country’s leading Urdu language newspaper daily Jang, about the inclusion of Sheikh Rashid.
He tried to remind Mr Khan of Rashid’s stance towards his party and doubted his loyalty for his bosses in the past.
Haroon says Sheikh Rashid’s politics revolves around vested interest instead of any party or the country.
When Khan refused to accept Ghulam Mustafa Kahr, Manzoor Watto Pakistan Muslim-League Like-Minded group then why he is hell bent on destroying his party for the sake of a man who even mocked him during TV shows.
PTI became third political option for the people of Pakistan after what Khan says struggle of almost 15 years and now he is going to repeat same mistakes which his rivals like Nawaz Sharif and Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto did and faced the music when large faction of their parties defected and betrayed the party leadership after 1999 military coup.
Does Imran think Sheikh Rashid will win a seat in Rawalpindi? Does he think Rashid will put up stout defence of the PTI on TV shows? Khan will definitely be at loss if he accepts Rashid for these purposes.
Rashid will definitely cost Imran Khan a large scale defection within his party and will shatter his dream of ruling the country, for which he ruined his personal life.
If this was to be done, he should have become the Pakistan Cricket Board chairman and served the nation after winning the 1992 Cricket Word Cup and marrying Jemima Gold Smith instead of undergoing difficulties for long time.
