Islamabad: International community will not support in case of flesh floods or any other disaster warned Federal Minister for Climate Change Rana M Farooq Saeed Khan. Situation becomes more alarming in the wake of prediction of the meteorological department as some 5-15 more rain is expected in the coming monsoon because of climate change.
Khan here on Friday flanked by Secretary Climate Change Muhammad Javaid, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Chairman Dr Zafar Qadir and Pakistan Meteorological Department Director General Arif Mahmood
said:“We have to generate our own resources to face any disaster, as this time international donors wouldn’t support like they were supporting in the past because they are of the view that mostly Pakistanis don’t pay tax and our taxpayers ask us that why we are supporting the people who are not paying tax themselves,” the minister said.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department director general said that 5 to 15 percent more rain is expected in the coming monsoon because of climate change. “This time there is a threat of flood and cloud burst in many areas,” he warned.
