Islamabad: Aitzaz Ahsan, the counsel of Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, on Friday filed a petition in the Supreme Court to form lager bench to hear speaker’s ruling case against the PM.
During Friday’s hearing, the chief justice remarked that the government had accepted the judgment as they had not appealed against the verdict. “The government has accepted conviction of the PM but not disqualification,” Aitzaz replied.
“The PM is convicted you should have to go in appeal,” the CJ remarked.
He said that the PM could not be disqualified automatically. He added that the Speaker’s duty was not to act like post office.
