Karachi: Unknown assailants shot dead a brother of former lawmaker of the Muttahida Qauimi Movement here on Tuesday.

Police said armed men opened indiscriminate fire after shopkeepers in Kabari Market, located in Shershah,  refused to pay extortion. The police said  Shehzad, a brother of former MPA Shakir Ali was killed and a man identified as Zakir was injured in the firing.

The dead and injured were taken to Civil Hospital Karachi.

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement lodged a strong protest in the National Assembly session over the killing of its workers in Karachi.
