Karachi: Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain on Monday night urged students to prepare for revolution on the occasion of 34th founding anniversary of  the All Pakistan Muttahida Students Organisation (APMSO).

He was addressing a student’s convention at Jinnah ground, Azizabad where scores of students and others were present.

He said that his party has been facing identity crisis since its foundation and urged everybody to accept its entity, but he felt happy that a sapling which he planted on June 11, 1978 had grown in strength to become a strong tree.

Today every politician is using the word ‘revolution’ in their speeches, Hussain said, adding people who raised fake slogans and criticised MQM were unaware of the word. People who used to be the enemies of revolution are now talking about it, he said.

He directed all the workers to avoid chanting slogans during the convention.

He said he was the first person who said Pakistan needed a revolution like France, but some people ridiculed him at that time.

He said MQM has been facing venomous propaganda since its birth. Even state institutions worked to demolish the party. Brothers and parents of MQM’s innocent workers were brutally killed, he claimed.

But despite all this, MQM’s vision and workers are present in the every corner of Pakistan, which is a clear proof of its success, he said.

He said that an environment of fear and hatred now prevailed Karachi due to the enemies of MQM.

Altaf Hussain paid tribute to APMSO and MQM workers, and said today’s was the biggest in the history of student’s conventions.

Talking about the situation of the country, he said anarchy and insecurity lurked Pakistan; Balochistan is on the verge of separation and the whole Punjab is on streets. He said Bangladesh was separated due to the similar reasons. Even the country’s economic hub, Karachi, was not spared and anti-MQM forces were resorting to violence against the party.

He said he was happy at the student’s response and congratulated them for being sincere and loyal to the party cause. Their continued support would lend him strength to change the face of the country, he said.

The convention ended with fireworks display.
