Lahore:  A much-awaited event of every student is not to far at LUMS, as its 24th Convocation Ceremony will be held on June 23, 2012, which will be addressed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy – Pakistan’s first Academy Award Winner 2012.

This convocation for LUMS graduates is likely to be the largest convocation ceremony in the University’s history, with over 700 students in the graduating class. This year’s convocation is also notable as it marks the first ever convocation for the inaugural batch of an expected 156 School of Science and Engineering (SSE) undergraduates.

The LUMS community will celebrate the graduation of an anticipated 734 students from the three schools; Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB), School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Law  (SHSSL) and School of Science and Engineering (SSE). The management will honour its outstanding students with awards and medals over excellence in their academic performances.

The celebrations will start an evening earlier, on June 22, 2012, with the traditional glittering Graduate Night Dinner, where graduates achieving distinctions in subject areas and those on the Deans’ Honours Lists will be awarded medals and shields. The 67 graduating students who made it to the Deans’ Honour List and the Corporate Gold Medals will be honoured with their proud parents, friends and faculty warmly appreciating their achievements with cheer and applause. The ceremony usually concludes late in the evening with a formal dinner organised at the campus lawns.

At the ceremony, degrees will be conferred to the graduates and the National Management Foundation (NMF), the governing body of LUMS, will award gold and silver medals to graduates securing top positions in various programmes.
