US to continue attacks in Pakistan: Panetta

New Delhi: US Defence Secretary Leon Panetta has said Washington would continue attacking al-Qaeda save havens in Pakistan.

He said  relations with Pakistan are difficult but efforts were being made to improve them.

He was talking to media in New Delhi during his visit to India on Tuesday. Panetta said those who planned 9/11 attacks have been hiding in Pakistan.   He said that the US will make efforts to stabilize Afghanistan.

Mr Panetta said confirmed the killing of al-Qaeda’s leader Abu Yaha al-Libi in a drone attack.

The secretary said India was playing a critical role in Afghanistan. The secretary also praised Indian army for its professionalism.

It  has now become a fashion that US officials, while visiting India, criticize Pakistan in bid to appease New Delhi.
