Sony upgrades VAIO S notebooks with Intel’s Ivy Bridge processors

London: Sony has upgraded it VAIO S notebooks with Intel’s Ivy Bridge processors and also unveiled new models of the VAIO E series.

The new VAIO S models are now available in in 13.3-inch and 15.5-inch screen sizes while the E series models are available in 15.5-inch and 17.3-inch models with the same ‘wrap-around’ design. However the E series will not be graced with Ivy Bridge chips but a second generation Core i5 instead.

Inside the magnesium, aluminium and carbon fibre or shell is a third generation Intel Ivy Bridge processor – a Core i7-3612QM for the larger of the two.

Sony said: “There’s no need to compromise on power or mobility thanks to the speedy new VAIO S Series notebook PC from Sony. Offering an appealing blend of power and portability, the new VAIO S Series can handle the demands of the toughest working day.”

The laptops weigh in at less than 2kg and include a slot-in optical drive, optional SSD and Nvidia GeForce graphics. Other optional technology includes a docking station and a sheet battery to extend battery life to 14 hours.
