Islamabad: A member of Pakistan Planning Commission has said that leading national nuclear scientist Dr. Samar Mubarakmand has failed in producing gas through Thar Coal field.

“The gas flamed only for four hours and then dropped off,” Shahid Sattar, Energy Member Planning Commission, alleged at an international energy summit at Islamabad.

On other hand, nuclear scientists has contradicted the statement of Shahid Sattar saying he never went to Thar.

“Coal Gas remained flaming for almost four months and if still someone couldn’t see it then its his fault,” he said.

Earlier, Dr. Samar said that through underground gasification technology, electricity can be generated at Rs3 to 4 per unit while diesel can be produced at $40 per barrel.

Dr. Samar Mubarakmand is a nuclear scientist and a Member of Science and Technology, Planning Commission.

For last many years he with a team of dedicated scientists is trying to use coal reservoirs at Thar, Sindh, considered to one of the largest reservoirs in the world.

Dr Samarmubarakmand has been claiming to produce gas and electricity since almost 2-3 years…nothing has been done…no advancement and no claims yet….if the claims are so tall why not any progress yet? when we hear any good news? i dont believe in him

Dr Samarkand is also a member of PC. So how is another equal member contradicting him a chicken? Furthermore, the member in question is the Energy Head. Not Samarkand.

Ms. Aqsa, mr. shahid sattar is a CMA degree holder thats all, but just check his work experience and previous associations with int. oil cartels, he has been with all major oil and gas companies including WB, still you think such a person will think about pakistans benifit, for sure not, he is a planted agent of the int. oil cartel…

      • Aqsa1

Mr Abbas. Just because someone has good experience at top firms doesn’t mean they are an agent. It means they are capable. Not everything is a conspiracy theory. Us Pakistan’s need to grow out of it. And you have no right to say just CIMA when you think World Bank is similar to Oil & Gas. How stupid does one have to be for that? Please go read some books and help yourself. You need it. But it might not help. Good luck.

      • Aqsa1

Another thing. The fact that such top firms hired him with just ‘CIMA’, means he is far better than us. Obviously far better than you because you think World Bank is Oil. I can’t get over that. Stupid people in our country.

Khalid,,samar Mubarak has a proven track record,a member of planing commision contradicting him is like a chicken making loud noises to scare away a wolf.

    • Dr.Mukhtar Ahmad

Samar is not a chemist or chemical engineer.thar coal gassification is not technically feasable.Only low heat content gases like CO can be produced along with some hydrogen.D.G. thar coal Dr. Shabbir has misguided him.Dr.Mukhtar Ahmad

  • Anjum

i think Govt dont want to invest money and want to malign dr, samar……

    • Dr.Mukhtar Ahmad

This is not a mature or producive comment. The tehnical feasabilty must be established by experts before wasting further resources

  • Ajamal

Why we need to waste time of such claims?  Why can’t media visit the site and confirm?

  • Khalid

”From this coal  we can produce  surplus gas, electricity  and oil for next  gazillion years, more than any country the world” …LOL..   Like the saying goes— if it sounds too good be true it probabaly isn’t .
