Gilani meets UK’s defence minister

London: Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani on Friday called on UK Defence Minister Philip Hammond and discussed issues related to mutual interest and regional security with special focus on Afghanistan.

Gilani told the minister that Pakistan wanted a peaceful Afghanistan. He said that Pakistan supported reconciliation process led by Afghan people and leadership.

 Earlier, Addressing a dinner hosted by British-Pakistan Foundation (BPF) in his honour Thursday night, Gilani said the over one million strong Pakistani community was the largest settled Pakistani community overseas and was rendering services for the British society.

 He said that Pakistani community was well-integrated with British system and was playing an active role in the political sphere and contributing significantly to the country’s economic growth.

The event was attended by Minister for Commerce Makhdoom Amin Fahim, Minister for Finance Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Minister for Information Qamar Zaman Kaira and others.
