Lyari back to normality after ceasefire

Karachi: Following a week of violence and fierce battle between police and gangsters Lyari is coming back to normality, correspondents said on Saturday.

At least people 25 people, including policemen were killed and 69 others injured in the week-long operation launched by police and Frontier Corps (FC).

During the operation most of the people were stranded in their houses without electricity, water and food supply.

However, a considerable number of people managed to evacuate the area. According to reports, receiving from Lyari, business and schools have been opened while people were seen going to their jobs.

On Friday, authorities decided to postponed the operation for 48-hours, saying a joint operation would be launched by police and the Rangers to arrest the culprits.

Sources said that Balochistan Governor Nawab Nadir Magsi played vital role in the cease fire.
