Rawalpindi: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Saturday acquitted an accused booked in the murder case of Shahbaz Bhatti, Pakistan’s former minister for minorities.
ATC judge Rana Masood conducted hearing into the case. SHO Police Station I-9 Islamabad told the court that no evidence was found against accused Ziaur Rehman.
On this, the court exonerated the accused and disposed of the case. Zulfiqar Maloka, defence counsel, withdrew his bail plea after the court decision.
It is to mention here that Ziaur Rehman was arrested in Dubai on Feb 13, 2012.
Shahbaz Bhatti was assassinated in early 2011 in Islamabad outside his residence a month after the assassination of Punjab Governor Salman Taseer.
